This panel will dive into what it means to be a trusted messenger behind critically needed communications that drive climate action. Who is considered a trusted voice? What are the experiences of these messengers? How do they move audiences from concern to engagement? How can trusted messengers be leveraged to address ongoing climate justice challenges? What are their experiences with climate mis & disinformation?

Trusted messengers from journalism, faith, and activism will explore how climate storytelling can build lasting public support by connecting with community values. The discussion aims to share proven approaches for maintaining momentum and translating climate concern into sustained action across different cultural contexts.

The panel will be hosted by Katja Iversen (CEO of the Museum for the United Nations), and feature Eileen O'Connor (Senior VP of  Comms, Policy, Advocacy at Rockefeller Foundation, Dr. Shanta Barley (Chief Climate Scientist at Fortescue), Gustavo Figueiroa (youth leader in climate activism and a Verified Champion), Hening Parlan (Indonesia National Coordinator of GreenFaith and Vice Chairman of Aisyiyah-Muhammadiyah).Â

Through Verified for Climate, we are counteracting climate mis- and disinformation by reinforcing positive, evidence-based narratives that drive action. By doing this, we hope to shift the narrative on climate change and accelerate the global energy transition to safeguard our planet's future.
